Cal wrapped
up spring practice this past Saturday.
Nate
Longshore misses a good deal of spring practice with an
injury. According to a number of reports,
Longshore is still the #1 quarterback in the eyes of the
Cal coaching staff. The final decision on the
starting quarterback may not be made until fall camp.
Prior to
Nate's injury fan favorite Kevin Reilly was taking snaps
with the second team.
James
Montgomery has decided to leave Cal and will apparently
be transferring to Washington State. Montgomery
rushed for 171 yards on 36 carries in 2007. Though
you hate to lose someone to another Pac-10 team, the
Golden Bears appear to be deep at the Running Back
position.
Justin Forsett
(RB), Alex Mack (C), and Jahvid Best (ST) named First Team All Pac-10
Lavelle
Hawkins (WR), Zack Follett (LB), and DeSean Jackson (PR) named Second
Team All Pac-10 Conference
Thomas DeCoud (FS), Brian De
La Puente (OG), Anthony Felder (OLB), Mike Gibson (OG), Robert Jordan
(WR), Craig Stevens (TE) were honorable mention All-Conference
Alex Mack was
one of three players who were unanimous selections.
Congratulations to all of the Golden Bears who were recognized for their
performance.
California Golden Bears
defeat Air Force Falcons 42-36 in 2007 Armed Forces Bowl
The Armed
Forces Bowl featured glimpses of the two different Golden Bears teams
from the 2007 Season; the 5-0 Golden Bears who were dominate on offense
and key plays on defense. The other team was the ineffective
offense that put the defense in tough poor field position and kept them
on the field much of the game.
Justin Forsett
rushed for 140 yards and 2 TDs in front of 300 friends and family.
Kevin Riley
comes replaces Nate Longshore in the 2nd quarter and leads the offense
to 6 TDs in his first 6 possessions. Riley competed 16-19 passes
for 269 yards with 3 passing TDs and 1 rushing TD.
DeSean
Jackson, Robert Jordan, and Lavelle Hawkins have an excellent game.
