Cal hammers Texas A&M 45-10 in the 29th Holiday
Bowl. |
 |
After their first offensive drive, Cal proved to be
unstoppable. |
 |
The offensive line played an incredible game, they
gave Nate Longshore plenty of time to pass and paved
the way for Marshawn Lynch and Justin Forsett's 100
yard performances. |
 |
The defensive came up with some big plays and even
bigger hits. They showed the Aggies they are a
solid defensive team. |
 |
Nate Longshore turned in a performance that Jessica
Simpson would have been proud of, earning him
co-Offensive Player of the Game honors (sharing it
with Marshawn Lynch). |
 |
Desmond Bishop awarded Defensive Player of the Game.
|
 |
The secondary not only held the Texas A&M
quarterback in check, they also made some huge hits
against Aggie ball carriers. |
 |
Congratulations to Jeff Tedford, the coaches, and
players for an incredible year with; 10 wins,
Co-champions of the Pac 10, Offensive and Defensive
Pac 10 Player of the Year, and winning the Holiday
Bowl by 35 points. |

Cal
loses to USC 23-9 in front of sell out crowd in Los
Angeles Memorial Coliseum. |
 |
This
game was a tough one to watch...especially since USC
was gracious enough to put the Cal fans somewhere
near the Sports Arena. |
 |
The USC
defense did a solid job of stopping the Bear's
offense. |
 |
Nate
Longshore was held to under 176 yards passing with 2
interceptions. |
 |
USC
benefited from a couple of questionable calls by the
Pac 10 officials. However, to USC's credit
they made the big played when they needed them. |
 |
The play
of the game is the 4th and 1 that USC turned into a
touchdown. |
 |
The loss will likely
send the Bears to Holiday Bowl in San Diego. USC will play
in either the Rose Bowl or the National Championship game. |

Cal
loses a tough one to Arizona 20-24. |
 |
Cal made
some big plays but Arizona played a solid game. |
 |
The
difference in the game came down to turnovers and
the fact that Arizona made big plays when they
needed them. |
 |
DeSean
Jackson has yet another big game. Punt return for a
TD and another TD reception. |
 |
Cal
drops to #17 in the humans polls and #15 in the BCS. |
 |
The loss
was tough one for Cal. However, the Bears
still have there bowl destiny in their own hands.
They have played well all season long and have given
Bear fans a lot to cheer about. Cal will
certainly head to Los Angeles focused and ready to
give their all against a solid USC team. Go
Bears!!! |

106,009 fans packed Neyland Stadium in
Knoxville, Tennessee to see the #23 Volunteers defeat the #9 Cal
Golden Bears. The 5,000 Bears fans who made the trip to
Knoxville may have been disappointed by the outcome of the game,
however, they should not have been disappointed by the incredible
experience of watching the Bears play in a truly incredible college
football environment.
Neyland Stadium, the largest stadium in
the South, was packed with 100,000+ volunteer fans dressed in orange
and white who sang "Rocky Top" about as many times as the USC Band
plays "The Only Song They Know" (Tribute to Troy).
As I walked around town before and after
the game two things were very apparent:
 |
They love their football in the South
|
 |
Tennessee fans are without a doubt the friendliest fans I have |
encountered
The California Alumni Association organized a handful of events for
the Golden Bear fans in Knoxville. On Friday evening Cal fans
packed Calhoun's on the Waterfront for food and drinks. Oski
and the Cal Cheerleaders posed for pictures and signed autographs
for the fans. The evening was capped with a performance by the
Cal Band and Cheerleaders.
The California Alumni
Association Tailgate on Saturday featured guest speakers: Sandy
Barbour (Athletic Director), Jack Williams (National Champion Rugby
Coach), and Craig Morton (former Cal Star). Oski and the
Cheerleaders once again posed for pictures and signed autographs.
The Cal Band came in and played for the Golden Bear fans.
The Volunteer fans
treated Cal fans much more hospitably than the Tennessee football
team treated the Golden Bears. On the field, Tennessee
dominated all aspects of the game from the very beginning. The
Bears could not get anything going on either side of the ball.
"We just weren't very sharp. We didn't execute. We didn't catch it
very well. We didn't tackle well," Jeff Tedford.
Lets hope the Bears are
able to getting back to winning next week when the Minnesota Golden
Gophers visit Memorial Stadium.
